WHO WE ARE AND WHERE WE ARE

Our family has always been a close-knit one.
The ownership of our hotel was passed down to us by our grandparents, Aldo and Giuseppina, who, with great sacrifices, managed to fulfill their dream of purchasing the Hotel Europa.

Let’s take a step back to the 1920s, when three brothers-in-law from Molveno left for New York to work in the mines.

After a few years, having managed to save some money, they returned to Molveno with the idea of creating something of their own. They became business partners, and in 1938, just before the outbreak of World War II, construction began on the former bar/dance hall Impero, which would later become the Hotel Europa in 1953.

One of these partners was our uncle Narciso, the brother of our grandfather Aldo’s father.

After becoming a hotel, it was rented and managed by Mrs. Moriggia from Bergamo for 17 years, and then by the Bottamedi family for another 7 years.

In 1977, our grandparents Aldo and Giuseppina took over the management of the hotel and began purchasing shares from their cousins, the descendants of the original partners who had since passed away. This process took several years.

When the third partner, Uncle Narciso, passed away, he left his share to our grandfather Aldo, his nephew, as he had no surviving children.

Finally, in 1995, Aldo and Giuseppina managed to purchase the remaining shares. In September 1998, they began a complete renovation of the hotel, which was completed in June 1999.

Aldo and Giuseppina have three children, including our mother Monica. In 2008, in agreement with her two brothers, Michele and Narciso, they divided the various family properties, making Monica the owner of the hotel.

Our mother Monica has always been supported by our father Carlo and by us, her children. A few years later, we decided to purchase another nearby hotel, which has since become our annex.

Both my brother Emanuele and I, Sabrina, grew up in the hospitality business. We first learned the ropes from our grandparents, as if it were a game, and later, after completing our studies, we followed in our parents’ footsteps. They made countless sacrifices for us, and we will never stop being grateful to them.

We do this work out of passion, and we hope to pass it on to our own children one day.

We are very proud to have grown up in this wonderful family and are honored to have been able to write this letter, thanks to the stories shared by our grandparents, who are still with us, healthy and thriving in their 90s!
